Born in Mexico City, Gelasio Dueñas is a visual artist and production designer whose work moves fluidly between fine art and cinematic space. He studied Visual Arts at La Esmeralda School of Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture (INBA), one of Mexico’s most prestigious art institutions.
His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is currently represented by contemporary art galleries. Dueñas’ pieces are held in private collections around the world, including Argentina, Cuba, Spain, Denmark, France, and the United States.
In parallel with his artistic practice, Dueñas has built a solid career as a Production Designer for film, contributing to national and international feature films shot in Mexico City, Los Angeles, New York, Colombia, and beyond. His experience also spans commercials and theater, enriching his visual language with narrative depth and spatial awareness.
His artistic style blends the formal and the informal through loose, expressive gestures, vibrant color, layered textures, and controlled accidents—creating works that feel both instinctive and intentional. Each piece becomes a visual terrain where matter, emotion, and movement coexist.
For Gelasio Dueñas, art is an expression that emerges across time and remains suspended as an infinite visual instant—traveling from light into darkness, from darkness back into light, or endlessly oscillating between both, echoing the rhythms of the universe.
